In trade secret news, Col. Sanders’ nephew showed the Chicago Tribune what he believes to be Kentucky Fried Chicken’s long-held secret recipe. Joe Ledington found the hand-written list on the back of the will of Sanders’ second wife.  KFC officials would not confirm or deny this, saying only that many people claim to find the secret recipe, and that “only a few people in the world” do in fact know it. Apparently they keep the Original Recipe “stored in a secret vault in a digital safe…in Louisville Kentucky.”

Tribune test kitchens found it “very close…even better than the Colonel’s…yet something was still missing.” Adding Accent MSG made a second batch “virtually indistinguishable.” Could one of the best-kept trade secrets finally be out?
