I thank my parents for believing in my ability to do math and science. When I arrived at MIT more than 30 years ago, I was among a record-setting class of 38% women. That fact is forever written on a Kendall Square subway station tile. MIT was, and remains today, a school where everyone is judged on what they can do, and not who they are. Why not study science?
